Ray is a month old already. It’s crazy how fast that went. He is a darling little guy. He NEVER cries – like as soon as I hear a little squawk I run over and hold him and feed him because he is usually asleep or in chill mode. He sleeps A LOT during the day. Night time he sleeps for 3 or 4 hours between feedings. He does sleep in his bed most of the night, most nights so that is a bonus. Ray is losing his hair but he has a thick patch on top still. His nose seems larger than the other kids. We debate daily about the color of his eyes, we are still deciding if they are blue or not. Mostly he is super healthy and super easy so LIFE IS GOOD. (however, I am upset that i lost an hour to daylight savings – i did not have an hour of sleep to give. 1 month is when i always feel exhausted so that was not good timing.)

Yesterday I sent Benji and Packer off to play at the neighbors house. They were going to walk down and knock and see if they were home!! They crossed the street together practically skipping. Packer looked so proud to be going just him and Benji! I figure even if the friends can’t play it’ll be a good half hour outing by the time they got ready and there and back and so its a win for me.

Yesterday I played hide and go seek with Cali and Mia, it was so fun to hear the little girls count. They would count to 11 or 12 and then they’d get lost and jump to eighteen or twelveteen or mumble a little and then finish off with 8,9,10… here I come!!

BYU’s come back the other night was amazing! Rose love’s to be tickled on the tummy – she is chubby and cuddly these days. Packer was playing Zombies and wanted me to guess witch part he was playing, i had no clue and guessed randomly. He quickly explained to me that i was wrong and i should know because of the background music – He is more than obsessed. Packer threw up during the night so he is home from school today. Benji just got his report card and is an excellent student!

Yesterday Ben came home for lunch and we were all in the kitchen and Rose accidentally fell down the stairs 🙁 Ben and I were both a little slow trying to catch her but after a little cry and lots of luvs she was ok. Not 10 minutes later Rose starts to fall down the stairs again so i lunged forward to grab her – i missed and barreled through our already suffering railing. I took out the remaining banister rails so now we have a new Saturday project. Cali spent the next hour telling me that we shouldn’tbreak the railing – thanks Sweetie!

Thats all the randomness for today – now it’s time for some BYU basketball! hoping for a miracle win…

    6 Barfs

yesterday was a beautiful day. the sun was shining, the wind was calm. we walked to the park and enjoyed the 60 degrees. we came home and enjoyed lunch and naps. we had cousins over to play and and all the kids played super good together and played outside almost the entire afternoon. Rose woke up and wanted to join the fun so I put her out in the garden with a shovel. I checked on her throughout the next hour and she was just a happy little thing in the garden so I let her be. When she finally came in I had to rinse the dirt off of her and refill the dogs water because that had been her last stop. This is where the beautiful day ended… She threw up on the carpet. It was brown dirty throw up. I don’t know how much dirt she ate but she threw up a lot. I know my kids eat dirt but I think she was shoveling it in. She threw up 2 more times before Ben got home and then he was blessed to witness 2 more throw ups that night. It didn’t seem like sick throw up, it was definitely eating to much dirt and washing it down with the dogs water throw up – My Poor Little Girl! and then to top it all off we woke up to a crib full of the nasty stuff this morning! Good news is – that was the last of it. No more barfs today!

PS – i will be escorting her to the sandbox/garden on her next few outings and I will be a stopper of the dirt eating. One hour of 1 year old fun was not worth the hours of throw up clean up!

I have been lazy lazy lazy since Raymond was born. Proof of my laziness = I have read 3 books! (all the Bayern books by Shannon Hale) More proof of my laziness:

basketball on the big screen in the middle of the day!!

I do love college basketball. I never watched any sports until I was in college and then I never really watched until I had kids – now I can’t play as often so this is the second best thing. So basketball and reading on my Nook are the two perfect activities for sitting and holding an adorable new baby 🙂

my snuggle bug - if i keep up with these 2 activities I will have another 20 pound 4 month old

One of the days I wasn’t SOO lazy. I let Cali call a bunch of the cousins and we had a random movie play day. It also happened to be Sam’s birthday so the kids were all hyper and happy.

batman shirts are the coolest - especially if you are turning 5 this year

    Movie Party!

Ben is contributing to my lazy days… he encourages my basketball watching and gets more books for my Nook. When he is home he is super dad and picks up all the slack that I am leaving behind. Mostly he finds himself  playing with the kids.

    family home evening

Raymond getting some daddy time - the tummy rub

In keeping with my laziness I let Ben take the 3 big kids to the school Art festival on Thursday. The kids had a great time. They really just wanted to do the Soda Pop walk so they did and out of 4 winners that round, 2 of them were our Packer and Cali. They must have their dads good luck. Benji worked hard on his 2 Liter Soda and made a Whale Trail theme. If you have an electronic gaming tablet (like Ben’s new Transformer Prime) you might want to check out that game – its fun.

    Whale Trail

and we got to buy Benji's art! I love that he named his flower Raymond.

Speaking of Raymond… I thought I’d put on his cute little bear shirt, socks and mittens and snap some pictures, i did just that. too bad he looks pretty doofy. i was thinking cute in my mind but it just didn’t happen…

not as doofy monkey boy - Ray is getting big already

How is Rose adjusting to a little brother?

    "baby"

How is Rose adjusting to not being THE baby anymore??? she’s doing really well. She is right at that age – 17 months – where she doesn’t want to be a baby anyway, she wants to be a big kid. She is usually chasing the older kids around and trying to keep up with whatever they are doing. I do try and make sure to give her the 1 on 1 time when she asks for it. Today we snuggled and watched Mickey Mouse together and she seemed to love it. She has decided that she doesn’t want her pacifier! kind of bad timing but if she is done then that is great. I think she’ll start talking more without it and I love that it is her choice. I have had the pacifier hooked to her shirt every day since birth up until this week so I am excited about the change. The side effects so far are a loud and vocal 1 year old and she seems to be waking up in the middle of the night… I am ignoring her and she goes back to sleep fairly quickly.

    combing hair with mom

look at these curls - that is a first in this house

Cali wanted a matching picture - Rose did not!

Some more about Rose – whenever i change her or Ray she says “poop poop” – it just makes ya smile. She always brings me her shoes and coat and gets louder and louder until she gets to play outside. If she sees anyone coming or going then she wants to go. The problem is it is still winter, yesterday was 67 degrees so we played outside but typically we are still in the cold and windy season. Rose also loves to put her head on Ray’s head then she says “ahhh, ahhh” and “baby baby baby” over and over. It is cute. Sometimes she tries to be a BIG baby, stealing his blanket, car seat or pacifier. We love our Rose.

Reading with Cali - being a big girl.

    3 Weeks Already

Raymond is already 3 weeks old! for his 3 week present he gave me 6 straight hours of sleep last night! and it was the good hours – 12:30 to 6:30. He is just starting to look bigger to me, not so new born and not so fragile. He is getting over his cold and was actually awake and needing attention today. All pictures of him look the same… wrapped up, laying on the couch – I still think they are cute pictures.
