    Demolition Derby

Saturday night we attended the Salt Lake County Demolition Derby! We look forward to going to the demolition derby. This was the 10th year that we have gone with friends and family. 10 YEARS! As my friend Erika said, “This is the only tradition that has lasted besides Christmas dinner!” This year we went with Sean and Erika, Larry and Megan, Mom and Dad, Pete and Amanda, Matt and Jamie and Karen. We all brought our older kids. Only Benji and Packer for us. It was awesome not having tired kids or babies on my lap. This is where I would like to insert a group picture but my phone camera died after the first hour… so here are Benji and Packer with their cousins PJ, Julia, and Sam.

The scary part of the night was when one of the trucks gas pedal got stuck and he couldn’t stop. He came barrelling over the dirt barrier and slammed into theย  metal fence just 10 feet in front of us before cutting the engine. We were so thankful that the fence held and everyone was safe.

The best part is the contest that Ben created and we all get to try and pick the winning cars. I had to hand the trophy over to Carter Thal this year. I’m hoping to get that picture from someone else but in the mean time I’ll leave you with a nice pic of Ben’s facial hair and a Yee Haw for Derbies!

    Another trip to the pond…

The pond is less than a mile away and it is free and it has sand for the kids to dig in and cool water to swim in and I really like going there. It used to be unknown but this summer the word is out and the place is packed.

See how many cars are there? But it is right by the mountains and just a great local hang out. Today we went with our neighbors and had fun visiting and playing with them.

    crazy swim suit girl

Check Rosie out. I put her swim suit on with a real diaper because we weren’t leaving for an hour. She got her swim shirt on and then she discovered her swim diaper and her favorite Ariel swim suit SO… per her request I put the swim diaper on over the other stuff and the other swim suit on top of everything else. To top it all off she insisted on her sock shoes and ended up wearing them into the water. Too cute.

Ray is getting so big. He isn’t 6 months old yet and he already went and grew a tooth – his bottom right and it is a SHARP little tooth. Now he is up on his toes and knees and can get all over the place. He has reverse down and is working on his forward plunge to get where he wants to go. MY KIDS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE MOBILE UNTIL AFTER THEIR 8 MONTH MARK! He has started waking up more in the night ๐Ÿ™ but he is pretty chill during the day ๐Ÿ™‚ He can take a bottle now ( = a little freedom for me) and he likes food but is not good at eating it yet.

    you want me to crawl?

Amanda and I swapped baby sitting a few times this week including Saturday so Ben and I could celebrate our anniversary. The kids loved it, cousin time really is their number one thing to do. We all watched a little Olympics together Thursday night. And I have been watching the Olympics as much as possible. It’s so fun. Last Sunday we celebrated Nettesheim birthdays at Ben’s parents and this Sunday we had more family over for dinner and games. Have I mentioned that we love our family!

Brittney and Jason and their kids crashed at our place Wednesday night through Saturday morning while they ran around doing wedding stuff for Derek’s wedding. They have 5 kids and my kids kept asking when the new cousins were going to be back to play! (any good friend is a cousin for them). They took a little bit to warm up to each other but then they had a blast. I love catching up with good friends and I’m happy that they like to stay with us. We mostly hung out at the house during their down time but we also went to the pond and swam in the hot tub and played games. Next year when they come on their yearly Utah trip I’ll take better pictures…

We had visitors on Monday and Tuesday! Cedar and John and Tracie were here from Alaska. We loved on Cedar a lot and compared her and Ray a lot and went to the Manilla pond and ate Alaskan Salmon and Bacon Ice Cream! all yummy. We walked to the park and played Small World, watched lots of Olympics and just loved having them here.

Ray is 2 weeks older but they are very similar in Size. Ray wins gut and Cedar wins legs. Ray can roll over but Cedar can sit. So Fun.
