Grandma Nettesheim was here visiting for a few months! She stayed with Ben’s parents and we got to visit with her on a few different occasions. Ben and I were able to take her out to dinner one night. It was neat to converse with her and get her opinion on things and the update on extended family. I hope I have it all together like she does when I am 90!

    Benji’s Track Meet

The 1st and 2nd grade classes had a track meet at the park. Each student had to participate in 2 races. Benji chose the 100M because it is short. And he chose the 800M because it was longest so maybe he could pass some people. This morning he told me that he dreamed about the race and he won a trophy! I tried to bring him back down to reality before he headed off to school…
I went to the park to watch him at his request. He did as I expected. He came in in the bottom third. I found myself teary eyed watching him. He didn’t care that he wasn’t winning. He pushed himself to the finish. I know he wanted to walk in the 800 but I was there next to him and he pushed himself and finished. I was proud of him. He came home with his “participation” medal, a happy kid.

    RSL

Utah doesn’t have a professional football team or a professional Baseball team but we have SOCCER. On Saturday night Ben and I got to go to a REAL SALT LAKE game. Ben has been following them closely this season. Mozy is a recent sponsor for RSL and we have spent several Saturday nights with the game on. We got to go to the game with no kids and FRONT ROW, MID FIELD. It was simply awesome!  We enjoyed every detail of the field, the little fouls and technique. We had a great night out.

    progress on the house

we are a month away from moving! its still a bit of a dream. I’ve never moved before – 9 years ago when it was just Ben and I and we fit everything in the smallest uhaul. now there are 7 of us, so much stuff… My good friend Erica told me a year ago that we would never move because we are to lazy – – I’m kinda wishin she was right – this is a lot of work. i am tempted to stay. 🙂 And we are the last people that wanted to build a house and pick out door knobs and light fixtures and colors and … but here we are and we did it and luckily Cadence made it a fairly simple process. We are happy with how everything is looking and coming together. We are so excited to live next door to family. I am so excited for more closets and storage and garage space. We are anxious to have a bigger dining room and kitchen. And an unfinished basement – oh the possibilities! Here’s to another crazy. exciting. BUSY month as we prep for moving…

Ray Ray, where are you?? somewhere in the recent chaos of my life, My baby just turned into a little boy! he WALKS. He tries to talk. He grunts yes or no. He snuggles baby dolls. He is a terror at church. He gives awesome hugs. He plays and climbs and teases and giggles. He signs more and duck and Hi and Bye. He loves to play ball. He squawks at you until he is able to communicate what he wants. He loves to be outside. He tries to feed himself with a spoon. If anyone is having treats – he wants treats. And his smile and facial expressions are still to die for. LOVE THIS BIG 14 and 1/2 month old.

Packer is a cool little 6 year old. He is turning into a big kid all of a sudden. I can’t believe he is almost done with kindergarten! He is reading and learning to write and he is bringing his A game this soccer season. He is a very independent and self fulfilled guy. He loves school. He loves computer. He loves playing with cousins and friends and siblings.

And then on Friday night we had all of the cousins over for a party. Ben made 10 missions that the kids had to complete to get the treasure box of candy. The missions were fun. My favorite mission was that Packer had to identify 5 skylanders while blindfolded. He killed it. – (other missions pictured below). We opened presents, ate cake, and watched a movie. It was a successful birthday and we had a happy 6 year old.

    Friday morning – april 3rd

    love this age

We got up and packed and checked out of the hotel. We were heading up to Northern CA to my parents house. With no desire to start that drive we decided to go to Down Town Disney with the Hancocks. Than convinced us that we needed to try Princess Tiana’s donuts – Beignets. They were yummy. Then we played at the Lego Store for a while before saying goodbye and starting the long drive north.

We got to my parents house at 9:00ish and hung out with family and stayed up late catching up with everyone and being silly. The next day was Joel and Megans Oroville reception in my parents back yard so we spent the morning prepping the house and yard and food. Next we snuck over to the family favorite – HULA’s Mongolian BBQ. Then back home to get pretty and enjoy the evening with family and friends. I love that Megan took time to make the girls hair pretty – she was so not worried about herself. I loved seeing good friends. I love being with family.

We had to leave the next morning to drive home. The last place we wanted to be was in the van AGAIN but we made it another 11 hours in the car. LaNell and Kelsey and Moki carpooled behind us. And it is always good to be home – when you finally get there and crash.

We loved our SPRING BREAK. It was a great trip. We are really blessed to be able to do that kind of long vacation. If you didn’t quite get enough Disney then check out Erica’s blog – she did a good job of capturing the magic 🙂  – – http://thananderica.blogspot.com/2013/05/disneyland.html

Day 3 – ALL Our Favorites

THE Only thing that got us out of bed on Thursday morning was knowing that Than would run around and get fast passes for us all day and ultimately make our day better and more fun and max out our rides. So we got up early and walked to the gates. We got there right at 8am when the crowd was let in.
We met the Hancock’s at the princess castle and met Aurora, Ariel and Cinderella.
There was no line for the Tea cups so we rode those 2 times. I was surprised how much Rose loved those spinny rides.
We rode the Small world boats. The Girls and Ray and Packer loved it.
From there we entered Toontown  and rode the roller coaster. Packer did not like it. Rose was sad she couldn’t ride. They played at a few of the houses and then we went to the Rapunzel theater. The girls were very Happy and waited to give Rapunzel a hug.
Boys stayed in Toontown and rode the Roger Rabbit and then the Boys went to space mountain.
We took a Pretzel break and the Girls rode space mountain. After that was what I call Bathroom Hour – everyone needed diapers and drinks and toilets and it took a good chunk of the afternoon to get everyone taken care of and ready to walk over to California Adventure.

At California adventure Benji and I went on the Grizzly Rapid ride with Pacen and Than. Ben took the kids to bugs land and killed time. The Kids played in the water because Ray was asleep so they couldn’t ride with Ben. When Benji and I got back I took the kids on the lady bugs and balloons. Rose loved it again.

We went to lunch with the Hancock’s over by the Muppet show. Chilled and then went to ride california screamin. Benji loved it.

We stood in line one more time for toy story mania for over an hour but it is a FAvorite so it was worth it. Then we ran as fast add we could to Soarin over California to use or fast passes and we got on but then the ride broke: (

So around 6:00 we left cal adventure and went back to Disney. We went to the emporium and let all of the kids pick a toy. Cali picked Minnie mouse baby. Rose picked Rapunzel baby. Benji picked Pegasus baby. Packer found a bucket of toy story aliens. They are all obsessed with these toys. Honestly might be their favorite part of the trip. The Hancock’s also spoiled them with swords. Buzz guns. And an Ariel. And tons of food stuff.

That night we went on the jungle cruise with everybody in the dark and then we ran over to Star Tours one more time. Cali went and loved it. Pack and Benji to. Rose and Ray hated every time that Ben and I left together but they survived. We all survived! By 10pm we had done everything that we had come to do. We were done.
So we went across the street to IHOP and ate and chilled and enjoyed being with the Hancock’s and enjoyed the success of our 3 day disney trip. So much fun. Lets do it again in 3 years!
