    CRAZY RAY

Raymond is sick this weekend. We are calling him Weezy because his breathing is really labored. Someone has to be holding him most of the time and he stays up late cause he has a hard time staying asleep. He wants to snuggle but he’s so uncomfortable that he ends up throwing himself on the floor. I think he has Croup but I’m hoping he’ll be better tomorrow and we’ll never know. I keep forcing him to take a bath to clear his sinuses and throat. He’s not interested in food. Fortunately he likes water and is drinking enough to stay hydrated. We miss our happy little crazy little buddy πŸ™‚

I already posted this pic but he is just TOO cute

Ray is 18 months this week!! The kid is just funny. He needs a hair cut. He makes us laugh. He understands so many things. Cute, cute little guy we have on our hands right now. He is just starting to talk and try to mimic what we say. He loves Gogurts and treats. He still loves his bottle and does not love the sippy. He sleeps with the big boys and they get him out of his crib every morning. His hair is super long but I can’t bring myself to cut it… If he thinks he’s got your attention he will Ham it Up – he loves to get all of his siblings laughing. When he gets crazy you can put him in his booster seat at the table and he will usually chill for quite a while. Especially if you give him a chocolate chip or 2. Having a little sister will be a big adjustment for our Ray Tom – I foresee lots of instruction on being soft and nice and not pushing her off of my lap. He loves to snuggle with his blankets. He loves to go bye bye. He is our best sleeper. He is crazy at church or anywhere that he feels confined. He loves to play with Q-tips and thinks it’s fun to get his hair combed. I successfully created another Momma’s Boy – even though I tried really hard not to.

    Broken Record

Every time I sit down to blog I want to write how busy we are and how fast time is flying by. Time is going so fast. I wish it would stop. I know I sound like a broken record on this blog of mine but that is the recurring theme of my life these days. There is not enough time in the day. Summer has flown by way to fast. I need time to slow down and nap and relax and catch up on everything and… I’m realizing that that time will probably never come – life seems to continually speed up.

Ben and I got back from our vacation Saturday morning and my parents and Kelsey and Brady were here at the house. They came from California Friday night and watched the kids that evening for us! Saturday morning we grabbed Grandma and Grandpa Johnson and Joel and Megan and we all went up to Ogden to spend time with Ryan and Tara and see their new home. Ben stayed behind to make sure that we were ready for the Baptism that night. We ate lunch and swam and played spoons and then grabbed a Taco Bell Freeze for the drive home. We came home to Ben’s homemade pizza and we all showered and got dressed to go to Benji’s baptism! The Baptism was great! We had so much family and we loved having everyone over afterwards and it was a memorable day for Benji. On Sunday we went to church and entertained family the rest of the day. Mom’s family came over throughout the evening. Grandma and Grandpa hung with us through dinner. ROOK was the game of the night. On Monday my parents had to head back to California for work but Kelsey and Brady stayed to play. They were our little teenagers for a few days πŸ™‚ We got a few pre-mission things done and played more ROOK. That night they went to play with friends and we went to Grandpa Nettesheim’s birthday party! Tuesday was another day with Kelsey and Brady and me trying to get some rest. That night we had Joel and Megan over to say goodbye to Kelsey, …Dinner and ROOK and we stayed up way to late giving Kelsey our missionary advice and council. Today we finished off the whirlwind. Kelsey got all packed up and we said our goodbye’s. I had cub scouts at our house and then Kelsey left. She was really excited. She will be a great missionary for the church. We kept telling her that we would make sure she gets to see baby Gertrude before she leaves for Taiwan! The baby is due in exactly one month and Kel is in the MTC for two months so that second month I told her I would drive by the MTC and hold the baby out the window until we happened to run into each other πŸ™‚ So that’s the plan… or just emailing lots of pictures πŸ™‚ Then tonight Ben came home from work with tickets to the RSL soccer game. We decided to have him take Benji to the game with him this time. I stayed home with the kids that are all still clinging to me after my trip and everyone is TIRED. Ben and Benji just got home and had a great time at the game. The free food helped but he is finally old enough to watch the game and appreciate being there. So that’s our story. School is around the corner, need to get ready for that. Summer is ending, want to send it out with a bang. And it is crunch time to try to do everything before the new baby comes because new baby mode tends to mean lots of staying at home and playing with baby, trying to get sleep and not being productive.

    Benji’s Baptism

Benji was so excited to get baptized and become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is all he has talked about since he turned 8. He would have been baptized in July but we were out of town. And they usually do child baptisms in the morning but all of our church leadership was on Trek so… Benji got baptized August 3rd at 7pm in Pleasant Grove Utah. There were 2 other kids that got baptized with him. We had so much family come and support Benji in his decision! Both of his Grandma’s and Grandpa’s were here and Great Grandma and Grandpa Johnson. All of the Utah Nettesheim’s except Uncle Schyleur- that’ 25 people!! Ryan’s Fam, Joel and Megan, Brady and Kel. Becky and Nate and Carol and Larry… He was excited to see everyone he knew and recognized. I loved seeing ALL of the cousins come right up to the font when it was his turn. He had a big smile on his face. I loved watching him make such a good choice in his life and seeing how happy it made him. We had everyone over for Ice Cream afterwards and celebrated the rest of the evening.

    10 year Anniversary

Ben and I got married 10 years ago on August 2nd! We were able to get away for a few days this past week which is not easy when you have 5 young kids. Ben planned out our 3 day excursion and I just went along for the ride. It was fun. We packed a lot of stuff in Wednesday through Friday and came home Saturday morning.

    DAY 1 – wednesday

DAY 1 - Park City Outlets, Loco Lizard, Heber Creeper, Heber Fair

DAY 1 – Park City Outlets, Loco Lizard, Heber Creeper, Heber Fair

We got the girls dropped off at Jamie’s and the boys off to Michelle’s and started our adventure Wednesday late morning. We drove north to Park City and Ben told me that the plan was to remember and revisit some of our 10 years together. We did a lot of reminiscing on the drive and throughout the week. We started at the Park City Outlets – one of my favorite places to shop. From there we went to the Loco Lizard Cantina for lunch, we went for our 3rd anniversary and hadn’t been back. We LOVE the chips and salsa. SO GOOD. I knew I would regret it but I just kept eating and eating. We did a little more shopping and then we made our way to Midway where we checked in at the Johnson Mill Bed and Breakfast. We have only been to one B&B and it was our Honeymoon and it was in Oroville and a lot of you know the story but it is a treasured memory and we hadn’t dared go back to a B&B until now. This one was great. We were right on a little pond and took a canoe ride and relaxed. That evening we went out and rode the Heber Creeper. It was a slow train ride around the back of Deer Creek. It was a wizard theme and we got sorted by the sorting hat and ate gross jelly beans and had birthday cake for Harry Potter. It was a fun ride and we really enjoyed the scenery more than anything. After that we weren’t quite ready to call it a night so we I made Ben take me to the local Fair Grounds and dream about riding the Gravitron or even the Ferris Wheel that someone refuses to go on!

    DAY 2 – thursday

DAY 2 - Johnson Mill Bed and Breakfast, Pedicure, Sundance Tram, Stewart Falls, BBQ, Annie Get Your Gun

DAY 2 – Johnson Mill Bed and Breakfast, Pedicure, Sundance Tram, Stewart Falls, BBQ, Annie Get Your Gun

The breakfast at the Johnson Mill was really good and we enjoyed being out by the pond. I had a mini cry over breakfast as we talked about the past and our future. That morning I went and got a pedicure just because I could – I mean – I was free, I didn’t need to schedule a babysitter or anything! We left Heber/Midway and ended up at Sundance. We took the ski lift up the mountain and from there we hiked over to Stewart Falls! We did the Stewart Falls Hike as our first date after my mission! Ben made sure we could take the tram so I wouldn’t have to do hardly any uphill hiking πŸ™‚ We came down from the Falls just in time to check in to our room at Sundance! and get my 4:00 nap in! That night we had a BBQ dinner at Sundance and then watched “Annie Get Your Gun” at their outdoor theater. Gotta Love a Good Musical!

    DAY 3 – Friday

DAY 3 - Shopping, Man of Steel, Cafe Molise, Brad Paisley Concert

DAY 3 – Shopping, Man of Steel, Cafe Molise, Brad Paisley Concert

Friday morning we slept in a little and then checked out and headed down the Provo canyon. I really wanted to go river rafting on the Provo River but I called the place that you rent from and they said they wouldn’t rent to a super prego woman. So, we went to Orem and shopped for a few items that we needed and then went to watch “Man of Steel” at 12:40. A strange time to be at the theater – but we enjoyed the show. After that we drove to down town Salt Lake and went to an early dinner at Cafe Molise. And then off to check in at our hotel. I tried to get my nap in but we didn’t have time :). We jumped back in the car and ended up at the Usana Amphitheatre. There were people everywhere as we made our way into the parking lot and then the venue. I eventually saw a Brad Paisley truck and got super excited. He is my favorite hands down. The concert was great – perfect way to end our adventure. We know all of his songs, he is a good entertainer AND to seal the deal he ended up coming down the aisle and right by us where they had a little stage for him to perform. I ‘almost’ touched Brad!

    just the two of us

    just the two of us

It was fun to spend so much time with Ben. We kept joking at how often I kept yawning – he really isn’t a Β boring date! BUT I am 35 weeks pregnant with my 6th and this body IS tired πŸ™‚ We laughed at how prego I looked in some of our pictures. We also thought about all the things we maybe could have/would have done if I wasn’t great with child BUT that has been a good part of our last 10 years πŸ™‚ I am still impressed with how much we did and what a good plan Ben came up with to compensate my inability Β to do anything ‘fun’ (river raft, zip line, ride anything, bike, hike, eat normal, not need a nap,…)

    see that belly!?

see that belly!? that’s hard to work with

Friday Night we stayed at the Hilton Home 2 somewhere near Salt Lake. Ben had ordered flowers, sparkling Cider and chocolates as part of the deal so when we came back from the concert we could have an official anniversary celebration… unfortunately the Hotel fell through and did not deliver. Fortunately we ended the adventure with a free hotel stay! We checked out that morning and came home to see the kids and my parents and Kelsey and Brady who had come to town for Benji’s baptism! Β … that craziness continues in my next post.

I love Ben and had so much fun on our get away. It was fun and relaxing. He is perfect for me.
