This moving truck started following me home so I led it to the Hancock’s new home. Can’t believe they are back!!

Than and Erica are back in Utah! and they live .5 miles from me! It’s all a little unreal still but we are excited to have our friends back. We had them over for Dinner on Thursday and helped them unpack on Friday. We left them alone on Saturday and let them babysit for us that evening. They stopped by on Sunday just like old times… Friends are Fun.

    end of wrestling

WRESTLING is over for the year. It was really good for Benji. He pushed himself more than he ever has and he seemed to excel with the hard work and busy schedule. He was definitely a beginner wrestler BUT he improved each time and he made some good friends and learned how to communicate with coaches and teammates.

    IMG_20160123_122234 IMG_20160123_123218 IMG_20160123_123911 IMG_20160123_124331 IMG_20160123_130013 IMG_20160123_130133

We went to the AF tournament – the whole fam to support Benji!

Then January 22 Benji got to miss school and participate in the State Tournament!

    cold, Cold, CoLd, COLD January

This Winter has been SO COLD! It has snowed more this winter than in all my 15+ Utah years combined. And when it’s not snowing it is FREEZING outside. So we are all cooped up. Trying to keep the kids happy and not give in to the january gloominess. I literally wake up most days thinking I just want to lay around in my warm sweats all day and do nothing. I think it is a blessing that that never happens ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s some of our January Fun:

    THE Bunk Bed

We have 4 boys and we’ve discussed putting all 4 boys in the same bedroom.

Ben and his brothers had a Quad bunk :)

Ben and his brothers had a Quad bunk ๐Ÿ™‚

So when I realized on a Monday that Brady and Joel had the week off from work… I decided the QUAD BUNK needed to be built. We looked on pinterest and discussed ideas. I called a friend to come move the electrical outlets three feet up on the wall. We made a home depot run on Thursday and then an Ikea run that evening – ย just me and all 7 kids ( I was determined to be ready to go Friday morning). I stayed up that night priming the wood with Ben and got up Friday at 5am to paint. And then I put together the Ikea drawers because they were about the same price as buying and building the pre-made’s at home depot. Then Joel and Brady helped me finish the drawers and we jumped right in to building the frame!

    IMG_20160114_130041 IMG_20160114_222515 IMG_20160115_114537 IMG_20160115_124641 IMG_20160115_142041 IMG_20160115_142335 IMG_20160115_142446 IMG_20160115_142933 IMG_20160115_150157 IMG_20160115_154648 IMG_20160115_160447 IMG_20160115_160633

Ryan heard we were doing a project and couldn’t be left out of building something fun so he brought his family down for a Friday night party/sleepover and on Saturday he was the mastermind behind the stairs and trap doors. Ryan and Brady built the stairs on Saturday. Megan and Kelsey helped me pick out the final touches to make it look complete.

    IMG_20160115_220547 IMG_20160116_114717 IMG_20160116_150316 IMG_20160116_150325 IMG_20160116_163607

I made a few trips to Home Depot.

    IMG_20160116_172704

I love how it turned out. The kids are loving it. I still need to FINISH it – paint, caulk, putty, finish the platform. Hopefully I will tackle that sooner than later.

    IMG_20160116_214524 IMG_20160116_214724 IMG_20160116_214827

We sat down and watched the Green Bay Playoff game that night. They almost pulled off the miracle come back but not this year… ๐Ÿ™ (Ben held Tiago most of the game for good luck)

    IMG_20160116_213303

My kids definitely felt neglected after 2 days of me being the “bunk bed boss” and a not very involved mom ๐Ÿ™‚ so, I can’t do projects very often but it sure was fun. Especially fun with so much help from family and friends.

We had everyone over again on Sunday so we could sit and look at our finished project ๐Ÿ™‚

    Sleep Training

    IMG_20160104_142657

Tiago is in major need of sleep training… Hawaii ruined any sleep pattern we had and then knowing we’d be in CA for a week… so the first week of January I spent trying to teach Tiago to sleep in his bed and not with mom. He learned pretty quickly! not perfectly yet but he’s good to go.

    IMG_20160104_124715 IMG_20160104_124717

Millie and Ray are being kicked out also… Millie is addicited to her sippy so she pees through her diaper at night and comes in my bed when that happens. February is dedicated to getting Millie down to a small drink before bed – not 5 sippy cups full of milk! Ray seems to have cured himself from the 3am wandering into moms room – fingers crossed – maybe the new bunk bed is helping there.
