    Fall Break

We had fall break this last weekend! We toyed with the idea of going somewhere but we decided to try a STAY-CATION!  We teased the kids that we were going to STAY home all day and just relax and you couldn’t go anywhere or leave the family room for Stay-cation. Benji decided that wasn’t a true stay cation so he googled it and announced that we would be visiting local museums. As much as I would have enjoyed a few days on the couch, the kids won and we packed in a bunch of fun.

Thursday: Cornbelly’s with cousins, lunch at the Cafe, Heber Creeper Pumpkin Festival with Grandma and Grandpa and more cousins

Friday: Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden, Nickel Cade, Adults to Red Lobster, Surprise Sleepover with cousins in Ogden, Rook

Saturday: Cherry Hill with Cousins, Ben and I had played in our soccer game

Sunday: Church, Football, Aunts and Uncles over for roast and potatoes and games

Monday: Games at home, Bowling in Lehi, Pizza Pie Cafe for dinner, FHE.

I was exhausted at the end of each day but the kids did really well. We had a lot of fun as a family. We also had a few tired moments but over all it was a great fall break. It was really nice not to spend any of the days travelling. It felt like we packed a lot in.

    Millie Can WALK!!

On October 12th Millie (13 months old) started taking a couple of steps and pushing the shopping carts all over the house – and now she can walk! It’s fun watching her toddle and fall and try again. She does best if she is holding something in her hands. She is always on the go exploring and walking and squatting and practicing. And crawling if she really wants to get there fast. I don’t have any great pictures of her in action but here’s some proof:

She still has the best giggle and does it often. She likes to give high fives and is all over the slide that we have in the house. She is starting to become a daddy’s girl! She will choose dad over mom and she will wave good bye to me when dad picks her up. Love this Millie Marie!

At her 1 year check up she weighed in at 19 pounds 10 ounces.

    RSL

We got to spend a day at the field with our favorite Major League Soccer team RSL. Ben’s company that he works for had done some marketing with RSL so they were invited on the 10th to come watch practice, eat lunch, chat with the GM about the team and then meet a few of the players.

We were able to leave the 3 youngest kids with a babysitter so it was really a lot of fun. Ben’s co-workers were there and the Falabellas and Brady and Monique came too. Benji, Packer and Cali played around in the stadium with cousins while we watched practice and they had plenty of food to keep them happy. It was fun to meet the players at the end.

    Rose is 4!

Rose had a BIRTHDAY! It’s so fun to celebrate these kids. Rosie has been WAITING soo long and now she is 4! She was so excited she literally couldn’t sleep! She came in my room twice in the 3am ish hours and then when I woke up at 7 she was snuggling on my floor waiting for morning 🙂

She opened presents first thing in the morning! and then played with presents all day. She got a Princess Anna dress and the Anna, Elsa and Olaf mini figures. She got Frozen Spot It and frozen book and frozen coloring book. She also got a La La Loopsy and Elsa Snow Queen Gloves! YES she is in love with Frozen and didn’t have anything Frozen so she was over due 🙂 Rose is a very quiet present opener. It’s almost like she is hesitant to see what is inside. A few times she got the giddy excited body shakes but mostly she would open a present and then wait for the next. If I didn’t know better I’d think she maybe didn’t like the gift but then she spent the entire day in her dress acting out Frozen, coloring and playing Spot it and introducing Elsa and Anna to her other princesses. She repeated the play process again today, just how we pictured it when we bought the gifts 🙂

We had a busy evening with scouts and soccer but we finished the night with a beans and rice dinner that Rose chose and then some cupcakes and ice cream. Rose tried not to talk while eating her cake but her siblings were relentless in trying to make her. She thought that she could talk in between bites as long as she didn’t have cake in her mouth 🙂 and we let her off the hook when the tears started coming. Grandma and Grandpa Nettesheim came over right before bed time and Rose got to open a present from them!

On Thursday we worked on the cake. It was a bit of work but that’s mostly because I’m not good at Fondant. Rose really liked the cake and made it worth the effort to see her smiling face 🙂

She got her present from Grandma and Grandpa Robertson in the mail that day and then Friday evening she had a bunch of the cousins over for a birthday party! She was EXCITED for her party. She really wanted to play Duck duck goose and doggie doggie where’s your bone. Next they had a little dance party and Then Ben did a fun Disney movie game where he would play the beginning of a song and the kids had to run and find the picture of the right movie and see who could guess the movie the fastest. It was a hit for all ages. Rose loved opening a few more presents and then we ate cake and watched a movie and had a sleep over with Matt and Jamie’s girls.

    My Birthday!

I had another birthday!! It was great. The kids get so excited, you can’t help but be excited with them. I woke the boys up for school and Benji says, “It’s time to wake up – and it’s time for your birthday! Happy Birthday Mom!”

    IMG_20140929_074114

We opened presents first thing in the morning. Benji and Packer go to school at 7:45 and they always want to do it before so…. we did. I got way too many gifts. They are all Sweet gifts though. I got a new Lego set and a jacket and skirt and boots and leggings and a pressure cooker! and I got my birthday PUZZLE! It was a great day!

    IMG_20140929_081035

I got an early start on my puzzle, got the kids off to school and then I got the itch to go help Joel paint his new house so I loaded up the 3 littles and went and painted for 2 hours. By the time Millie started drinking the paint I figured it was time to call it quits.

I worked on the puzzle all afternoon and the kids either helped or entertained themselves. Michelle and LaNell stopped by and I ate yummy cupcakes. Ben brought home Cafe Rio for dinner! We watched Monday night football and ate cupcakes. I finished my puzzle just as we were ready to put the kids to bed! They were worried that I wouldn’t finish… I always finish!

    IMG_20140929_195744 IMG_20140929_201258

I also got to talk on my phone throughout the day to my parents and siblings and friends! My phone was at 5% battery by mid day so you know it was a good day. I love having so many siblings. I didn’t get 11 sibling calls but it was close 🙂 While I don’t enjoy getting older, I do believe in celebrating LIFE. I love my LIFE. Most days I just can’t believe how good I have it. (I am knocking on wood right now) but I have been blessed in every way I ever hoped I would be by my 35th year.

    IMG_20140929_195942

One of the Nettesheim traditions is that you can’t talk while eating your birthday cake or else you have to finish eating the cake under the kitchen table. I TOTALLY FORGOT. I took a bite of cake and started talking so I spent a few minutes under the table that night.
