    Happy Birthday to Benji

Today is Benji’s 4th birthday! He has been so excited for so long waiting for all of the other birthdays that had to happen before his and then we had a countdown on the computer of how many days and hours until the day and he would literally check the computer every day, several times a day and several times in a row he would keep going back to see if it had changed – so EXCITING.

    4 YEARS OLD

So he woke up this morning!!… and his little hand was swollen and hurting so bad that he didn’t even remember that it was his birthday. When he saw the presents he got super excited again and we let him open them. It was very sweet when he asked his little brother to help him because his hand was hurting. His hand started hurting yesterday, I was thinking maybe a bug bite or a spider bite because we were out Late Saturday night in a swarm of bugs. It had started to swell last night and then this morning it was swollen with 6 to 10 little lines -(blisters). The Dr. had an opening this morning so by 9am we were off to get some help for the hand. We came home with a diagnosis of Poison Ivy. No idea where that came from. Hopefully the medecine will start helping. For now it keeps getting worse…

    Birthday Boy!

    Birthday Boy!

Chuck E Cheese sent us  a 20 free tokens coupon for Benji’s birthday so that’s where we went after the Dr visit and he is looking forward to his cousins coming over for his birthday party tonight. He is having a great birthday even though you can tell he’s just not quite his 100% happy self.

They used to be afraid of these rides - NOT ANYMORE!

We've had a few Chuck E Cheese Tokens laying around the house so my boys were so excited to finally get to go there and use their money!

I’ve been enjoying the confederations Cup games all month on ESPN. The US made it to the finals which is very unlike them. Brazil also made it which is no surprise. I spent a year and a half in Brazil and usually cheer for them BUT not when my country is in the mix. The championship game was today and the US had it – 2-0 at half – It was then very frustrating to watch Brazil score 1, 2 and then the 3rd goal for the win – BLAHHH!

On Friday we went to the Real Salt Lake Game. The new stadium was awesome. Now they just need to bring the ticket price down a little so that we can go more often. The Falabellas, Hancocks and Papas went with us.

I got BBen a cool kite for his birthday - It's a big power kite so it needs some decent wind - we tried several times so far but no luck yet. The same day that we waited 4 hours for wind we finally gave up and went to dinner - at dinner the wind was blowing the food right off our plates! not cool

Cali zonked out on LaNell's lap - this was the day that she didn't wake up for 17 hours and then she fell asleep 2 hours later - that was not a new trend however - she barely takes one nap these days. We like when Coach Brown is off for the summer.

AND TODAY the US SoCCER TEAM beat the number 1 RANKED Spain!! in the Confederations Cup. I love WATCHING SPORTS. LOVE IT.

The Night before Last I decided to roller blade on a new trail – it was getting dark so I took the dog. It was a great trail ( not much of a workout because the dog pulled me the whole time.) To make a long story short I hit a branch and tripped and the dog kept going so I got pulled across the pavement a little – I haven’t had skinned knees in a long time!

Summer is going too quickly 🙁

“Mom – What if everyone had 3 arms?”

So I’m holding Cali and Benji is begging for milk in a sippy so I get it BUT then he’s begging me to put Herseys Syrup in it to make it chocolate milk and I told him No because it’s too hard while I’m holding Cali and I really don’t have enough hands to do it.

So a couple of minutes later I received the question, “Mom, what if everyone had three arms and hands?”

“I don’t know Benji – what if we did?”

“Then you could hold Cali AND make me chocolate milk!”

“Good thinking Buddy.” Kids always come up with the simplest answers. I like their honesty and simplicity. and he added, “If we had 4 arms then you could make my chocolate milk and hold Cali with 2 hands!”

    50 CENT RIDES

We Went to the Carnival Last Night! It is Strawberry Days in Pleasant Grove so we went for it even though it was threatening to rain and we couldn’t go until 8pm it was a success. Our boys actually went on a few rides, no scary ones but I felt that any ride was a success at this point. It helped that Pacen and Camry were there and they are experienced DisneyLanders so these rides weren’t scary for them. The Hancocks kept us out to late but we had a good time!

Life Might be a Little Like This…

If you had a kid every year! Pacen is July of 2004, Benji is June of 2005, Camry is April of 2006, Packer is April of 2007, Claira is September of 2008, and Cali is December of 2008 (almost 2009).

Erica and I took turns watching each others kids yesterday so that we could each go to the Temple! We’ve been doing this once a month and I love it. I think everyone needs someone that is willing to be a little crazy for 2 – 3 hours so that the other can have that “Temple Time”. Thanks Erica. And I am willing to watch kids for anyone else that could use a 2-3 hour uplifting break – Seriously don’t hesitate to call.

Some Days are Busier than Others

And This Was A Busy One!

7:30 – Cali wakes up and needs to eat

8:00 – Let Cali wake Ben up and make him get up for work.

8:15 – Vacuum downstairs so that I can do an exercise TV workout.

8:20 – Try to workout but the vacuum must have tripped the wire or whatever that would be called cause the Cable Box reset and Exercise TV will be available shortly. A few situps later Benji wakes up… looks like exercise is not top of the list anymore.

8:30 – Breakfast for the boys – well if you count sippies and cereal in a bag as breakfast that is.

8:45 – Laundry, Dishes, Emails, Cali down for a nap,  Lesson Prep for Sunday, make lunch, find Mikilas long lost overdue movie, get kids dressed.

11:00 – Play group and picnic with the ward. Lots of peops came and my boys actually went and played instead of sitting on my blanket with me so it was a success. They even got brave enough to try the big trampoline by the end.

1:00 – Grab some stuff and load the kids in the car for some afternoon errands.

1:30 – See LaNell on her bike ride, she had only gone 15 miles – just started – (psycho)!

2:00 – stop at the bank

2:20 – Mikilas work to give her the movie cause really can you pay 30 bucks for an old used lost movie.

2:30 – grab balloons and Candy for Grandpa Johnsons 86th?? birthday.

2:45 – Go to my grandparents house in Orem. They’ve been at their “summer home” in Kanab recently and go back tomorrow so we were glad to catch them before they left. Benji and Packer chose to stay there while I took Cali to the Dr. which is weird if you know my mommas boys but they do really well with their great grandparents and Benji didn’t want to hear Cali cry when she got her shots.

3:30 – Cali to her 6 month well check. Healthy Happy Baby – weighed in at 15.3 and 25 and 1/2 inches. 3 shots and we were out of there.

4:10 – Pick up the boys and say goodbye to my GP’s.

4:20 – Stop at the mall, say hi to Joel and hit a few stores.

5:15 – Home Sweet Home. Try calling the concrete guy one more time…

    5:30 – Hotdogs for dinner.

6:00 – Clean Up, kids playing, Ben not home yet.

6:10 – more laundry, I’m tired, Ben is working from home between 7and 9pm so the kids and I head upstairs for some Toy Story 2. That’s a good movie – we watched it twice 🙂 There’s a 3rd one coming out right? can’t wait. I snuck in a few phone calls with family and friends and planning for tomorrow. Called my Dad – he’s home alone  – that doesn’t happen often at my parents place so I thought I would check in.

9:00 – Sing songs with the boys. Cali goes to bed.

9:10 – teeth, scriptures and prayers. Bedtime for the boys.

9:30 – Time to do my blog. Some ‘us’ time – he’s on his computer and I’m on mine – we’re both doing computer stuff so that counts – right?

IMG_2031and my super happy baby even with the immunizations this afternoon. She’s just learning to sit. Don’t you just want to kiss those cheeks? I do. Love her.

Packers Trip to the Cardiologist and more

Packer has had a heart murmur since birth but the Dr suggested we get it checked out just to have a better idea since he’s just a Family Practice Dr. So we went to Primary Children’s this afternoon and Packer did great and it turns out that its just your normal flow murmur that lots of kids have and usually outgrow around the age of 8 or 9. We were thinking that this was the case but its good to know and now there are no worries.

All hooked up for the EKG test!

While there the Doctor asked if we were Green Bay Packer fans… I was bewildered that he could guess that by just a few seconds in the room with us. I looked around to see if any of us had on our Packer shirts or what the clue was… Anyway – the big clue was obviousdly our sons name! I’m a little slow these days in the brain strength category.

I’m glad that we had the test done and greatful that the results were exactly what we hoped to hear. My Father-in-Law actually had a minor heart attack this past week while they were here visiting, that was a little scary but he seems to be pulling through just fine. So we’ve had our share of Cardiologists for now.

I'm glad that I don't have to worry about my little Pac Man - being healthy is such a blessing - I have always taken our good health for granted but I am starting to understand how blessed I have been.

We said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa Nettesheim yesterday. We had a lot of fun with them and were sad to see them leave. Luckily we get to see them in Wisconsin in a few weeks so goodbye wasn’t as hard this time.
