    First Food for MIllie

Millie has been watching us eat for months. She follows the food and shows so much interest that I finally gave in and gave her some rice cereal. She enjoyed it but was pretty messy. And then she was up ALL night trying to figure out how to digest it. She couldn’t sleep and wanted to nurse the entire night. I ended up with a headache and lack of sleep. She finally went to the bathroom at 7am and has been back to her normal self. I usually wait until 9 months or more to start solids so… I think I’ll go back to waiting.

    Show and Tell

Cali was also Star Student this week. She gets to bring a snack to share and a show and tell. She really wanted to bring baby Millie to show her class so I finally gave in and we did it. SHE LOVED IT.

    Egg Drop

Benji came home from school and said they were learning about gravity and he was supposed to make something to protect an egg and bring it to school the next day. I said “show me the paper from your teacher” but there wasn’t one. So I assume it was a voluntary assignment but Benji really wanted to do it so at 6pm that night his friend Seth came over and they designed a toilet paper roll in a tissue box and decorated the box and made a parachute. I did nothing. They tested it a few times here at the house and it did pretty well. He said at school it made it to the 3rd round but the winners made it to the 5th round. Seth lives a couple streets over, he’s in Benji’s class and they have become good friends this year.

    Millie plays with toys!

Millie plays with toys now! – I am pretty slow at offering toys and rattles and stuffed animals and… we have a bin of baby toys that have barely been used so I got them out and we are letting Millie play. She is still pretty limited but she has a good grasp and loves to put everything in her mouth.

    Star Student

Packer was Star Student this week and he LOVED it. Being Mr. Project he had so much fun making his poster and getting the “special” things ready each day. It was great for me because he did it all himself πŸ™‚
Monday was bring a poster, Tuesday your fav. book, Wednesday was show and tell, Thursday a letter from your parents, Friday wear a crown and be the class helper.

The Letter that I wrote to him:

    February 20, 2014
    Dear Packer,

You are an AWESOME kid! We are so happy that you are our son. Some of our favorite things about you are:

    1. You are kind to everyone.
    2. You are good at being silly and making us laugh.
    3. You are great at listening and following rules.
    4. You are a Super Duper Good Brother to Benji, Cali, Rose, Ray and Millie.
    5. You always tell the truth.

We love having you in our family. It is so much fun to play with you even when you keep beating us at Skylander Guess Who. Mom loves watching you play soccer. Dad loves wrestling with you when he gets home from work.
    Keep Up the Great work.

    Love,
    Mom and Dad

P.S. he is doing better on his spelling tests! 8/10 this week with a baskward s and p.

We got a new camera! I thought I had a good camera but it looks weak now compared to the new one. We got it mostly for video. We are loving it.

    We went to the ZOO

Our kids earned a trip to the zoo so the Monday holiday was a perfect time for us to go. We wanted to get an early start to beat the crowd but we let the kids sleep in a little after a night of games at grandma and grandpa’s house. We got there around 11am and took our time visiting each animal. Pete and Amanda’s family met up with us around noon and the kids had a blast together. The animals were mostly indoors and lazy so it wasn’t our best visit but we did get to see everything and the weather was so nice – after so many cold cooped up days it was great to be outside.

I think Packer is picking a nose in this one. Silly kids.

I ended up with lots of pictures of the backs of their little heads. I’m sure they have curious happy smiles on all of their faces.

    Here are my favorite pictures:

Ray was curious. He was also tired and grouchy but he seemed to enjoy it.

The kids LOVE the animal statues – almost more than the real animals – I guess because you can climb all over them – We took a picture or 3 or 4 at all animal statues!

Rose did whine if she didn’t get prime animal seating.

The real animals for you animal lovers out there… Monkeys are always fun. A favorite this time were the Otters. The Rhino’s were being fed so we got to see them up close. Most of the “cats” were asleep but the Cheetah was on the prowl. The Polar Bear did not perform his swimming back flips this time but he’s still cool and Giraffe’s are always fascinating:

    RAYMOND is 2!

Ray turned 2 on the 13th! He is a cute 2 year old. I tried to let him do what he wanted throughout the day which is a little risky but low key. We played and stayed in pajama’s and ate junk food:

Grandma and Grandpa Nettesheim stopped by in the afternoon with a gift for the birthday boy- It was his special pillow with a pillow case for every holiday that Grandma made!

    158February20141

In the evening when the kids and Dad were all home we opened presents. We decided to go with one big gift this time and got him the “Sports Climber”. It’s a slide but it also has a basketball hoop and a soccer and football goal built into it. He is such an active boy and it seems to be a perfect fit. He and his siblings have already had hours of fun:

And then we had cake and ice cream. For some reason Ray freaked out when it was time to blow out the candles. He had been pretend practicing all day but when it came down to it he was tired and something set him off.

Raymond is a busy boy. He is always looking for fun or trouble. He brings a lot of craziness and joy to our family. Bring on the TWO YEAR OLD.
