    Time for Solids

Cali has been eyeing up our food lately so we busted out the rice cereal and applesauce. She loves it. Well, I should say that she loves the little bit that she can actually get down. She smacks her lips and chews on the spoon. My boys weren’t interested in solids this early so it’s fun.

    Sunday March 1st

After the blessing we had a luncheon at our house. We had a great time visiting with family and playing a few games. We were thankful for the nice weather because our little house does not accommodate  50 people otherwise. From Ben’s family we had Pete, Amanda and their 5 kids, Matt, Jamie and their 5 kids, Michelle, Udine and their 4 kids, Becky with 2 kids and Andy, Stephanie and one in the oven. From Jana’s family we had Grandma and Grandpa Johnson, Ryan and his 4 kids, Joel, Tracie, John, Shannon, Sean, Bracken, Carol, Larry, Alex, Colby, Ivy and 1kid, Josh, Mal and 1 kid. Friends: Mikila, Travis,  Nathaniel, Erica, and their 3 kids. Here are a few pictures from our day…

By the end of the weekend we were exhausted. Thanks for the support everyone. And we know that there were many more that would have been here if they could 🙂

    Cali in her beautiful dress!

We had Cali’s Baby Blessing yesterday and it was a great day. We had a lot of family come and really enjoyed the day. My mom made Cali’s dress and she looked beautiful in it. I’m struggling with pictures and my blog right now but I’ll post more pics soon.

Erica got a hold of my baby and took some pictures… Cali was not cooperating for the photographer. ie. kicking and stretching and not letting Erica position her at all. It was kind of funny, but she still managed to get some cute ones. Cali is 38 days old in these pics – no smiles yet.

    paint and swing

Now I know why we waited three and a half years before bringing paint into the lives of our children. IT IS A MESS! and I consider myself a laid back person but I just couldn’t handle Packer mixing the colors and not rinsing his brush and putting the black brush in the white paint, paint on the floor and nasty water all over -so I finally left the room so that they could actually enjoy the painting without mom interfering and teaching. When I came back in there was no longer a “white” paint and Packer had Blue hair!… Benji did pretty good but still a mess and definitely a parent monitored activity. Benji asks too use his “Painting” every day so we’ll see how long until mom gives in. The picture I took was obviously in the first minutes of the painting project – pre mess and pre blue hair!

Our other Project this morning was getting out the Baby Swing for Cali. Packer was a very big helper…

December 5th – Due Date. 6:00pm no baby – go to Bens work party. 9pm Boys in bed – watch “Pushing Daisies”, “the Office”, and fall asleep. Dec. 6th1am – kept waking up every 10 minutes. 1:50am – are those contractions?? 2am – a hard contraction – felt like the baby kicked me and my water broke! Wake up Ben! Pack Hospital Bag. Call Uncle Pete to come stay with the boys. 2:30am – drive to Provo, Register with Hospital on the phone. Ben got to run a red light to get us there quickly! 3:00am – all checked in. Contractions are 3 minutes apart. 4am – Contractions start to require some breathing and concentration – only a 5. I refuse the epidural - in the olden days women always gave birth without these conveniences! 4:20am – Dr shows up – watches me squirm in pain. Nurse says she’ll check me at 4:30 so I say “I can handle that”. But the contractions are killer at this point and if this baby isn’t coming then I need the EPIDURAL! 4:30am – 100% ready to go – Dr says I can push! 4:40am – “WHAT WAS I THINKING!!??!” 4:46am – baby on my tummy not in my tummy! most relief I’ve ever felt! “Hi little Cali”!

So that is the story of baby number 3! We are so excited to have her in our family and very blessed that she arrived in perfect condition – 7 pounds 8 ounces and 18 and 1/2 inches long.
