    1 YEAR

It’s been one year since I got the text that Dad was gone! It still hurts to write that. It still feels like he might be coming back. I miss him so much. I spent the day talking to mom and my siblings and I watched the funeral stories that all of us siblings told and tried to remember all the awesome things he did and was. I wish he was still here planning our next trip and bringing mom out for the next Utah get away. Life isn’t fair. I’m still not sure why it was His time! I cried all month. Every time I drove by the cemetery. Or thought about how last year at this time we were praying, last year we were calling an emergency family meeting, last year we all fasted and dad got better. He got off the oxygen. He got over the blood clot. Mom got to visit him! and she got to see him again when she dropped off her valentine. All the times I tried to call and he never answered. . . and then he was gone. We thought he was better and moving to a facility and we could come visit as he got better and better and then the Dr. calls and his heart stopped and that’s it.

It hurts when I stop and feel all the feels and take the time to miss him but that’s what I did on Wednesday. I put being a mom and wife on the back burner and I was just a kid and a sibling for the day. Ben was super aware and let me have my day and gave me a framed photo, Erica took me to lunch, Abbie and Kristin sent treats, Katie Call sent a box of love.

    I miss you Dad

    The Rental House

All during Feb I was working on the Rental house. Old renters left on the 10th. I listed the house and showed it a few times and tried to fix things up and got the inside walls all painted. And the carpets cleaned and I scrubbed windows and walls and caulked some edges. The carpets need replaced but the renters that I liked have dogs so I am allowing the dogs and they are allowing the ugly carpet. The Gibsons left and the DenBoers are coming in. I still have stuff to do over there – like fix the plumbing in the main bath shower. But it’s starting to wind down and I can go back to being a stay at home mom instead of a landlord 🙂

    Valentine’s Day

All of the Valentines were sold out this year! We waited until the weekend before and there were no valentines! We found a couple of bags of candy and then we broke into my stash of unused from years past! Luckily we had plenty of those. The kids had fun making their boxes! Millie had an idea for a watermelon and we cranked that out. Rose decided on a Panda and did it all on her own. Ray wanted to do an alarm and had Packer and the other kids help him out!

Ben had a Valentine out for everyone in the morning and Flowers for the girls in the evening. The kids all did valentines at school. And we had a busy Monday of real life and then we ate a red dinner and had homemade ice cream and watched a romcom and called it a day. I got Ben a new camping/sports walking Rocker Chair. He gave me the Adidas SuperStar Lego Shoe! It’s the shoes that we bought each other back when we were dating! Still my perfect valentine!

Look at this kid turning DOUBLE DIGITS! I can’t believe he is 10! We had a good Sunday celebrating him!

Ray is a gamer. He is good at games and puzzles and sports and reading and all the things. It was fun to play with his toys and go to church and go to a Super Bowl Party over at Matts.

Ben and Rose and I went to watch Packer at his last wrestling Tournament. He got beat 9-1 in his first match but it felt closer!

2nd Match was also tough. Pack just couldn’t quite turn it. He was almost able to pull some of his moves but in the end he lost that one too.

    Addams Family Date Night

Ben and I went to Thursday Nights show! It was very entertaining. I liked sitting further away from the orchestra so I could hear everything else better. Benji did great at his part.
