Little Grass Valley. Does anyone remember when we’d go up there every Memorial Day and camp? I have great memories of camping, hiking, getting rained on… I think that 3 years of rain and a little snow one year finally ended the tradition 🙁 that’s when the Hancock’s stepped up and started the BBQ tradition. This Memorial trip and the Labor Day Fort Bragg camping were the 2 trips that we did every year when I was a kid. Thanks for the great memories Mom and Dad! maybe next memorial we’ll have to do something more than Sonic at the Park and working in the garden – sorry my kids:)
Cali has an eagle eye. That girl can spot me a mile away. Aren’t babies supposed to have limited range or something. Anyway – she finds me wherever I am and throws a fit if I don’t stop and pick her up. I’m afraid I’m getting a little dose of the tantrums that I used to give my dad!
A project a Day: I decided that that is what I am all about right now. I have a million projects on my want and need to get done list so I am trying for one a day. Saturday was cleaning and stuffing the old Swamp cooler vent in the hall. Sunday – I don’t work :). Monday I really wanted to do stuff but Cali wasn’t feeling good so I held her all day and helped Ben get his drip system in the garden. Tuesday, I cleaned the sliding door and track to see what it is going to take to get a new screen put on there – – NO FLIES IN MY HOUSE THIS SUMMER!
My brother just started his own booth at the University Mall selling Neck Ties… I must say that I am very impressed with his set up. Ben bought some of his ties a few years ago and they have been good quality. We just went down and bought a few more and also bought small ones for the boys to match their dad. (by the way – Where do you all get your white shirts for little boys?? I can never find good quality ones or maybe I just haven’t paid for quality.)Â
I was walking through the other mall yesterday and I must say that his neck ties are a lot better looking than the department store ones.
There is a great selection of ties
I already bought the second one from the right on the middle row so if you are in my same ward then you can’t buy that one 🙂
So there is my plug for my brother – but really they are a good deal AND FATHERS DAY is around the corner so any of you locals should check it out. 1 tie is only $11.99 and if you buy more than one then the price goes down from there. He is still getting his website up and running but that will be an option soon.
On our way home from my soccer game last night there was a little dog in the road. He had a collar on and we were right by the animal shelter so Ben decided that we should take him to the shelter… well, an hour and a half later we had learned that the shelter was closed for the night and there is no where to leave the dog and it takes the police quite a while to come get an animal. I can only hope that his owners are at the shelter looking for him this morning so that our wasted Friday night wasn’t a total loss.
This is my new little internet computer. You’d think that since I’ve been the owner of this thing for well over a week that I would be a blogging fool – it is small and very handy to cart around the house but I am not quite used to it yet – watch out bloggers when I do figure this out I could be a posting fool.
my netbook - I think that's what its called - the surrounding items are to give you an idea of how little this computer is.
Other stuff going on around these parts…
It's hard to get a R.S. lesson prepared with this little one making cute faces at me - even harder though when she is screaming at me so I won't complain.
we've been using the spotting scope to spot cool things
we spotted this hot air balloon one morning
Cali is a real roller now. She can do it without thinking. I wanted to do a post about her horrible pooping problems because I literally have been changing her outfit 3-5 times a day... is this a genetic defect or do I need diapering lessons???
Here are some cute pics of all 3 kids. They are into books. LaNell walked in the door today and Packer went straight to the books – he associates her with reading to him – thanks Lan.
Joel - the new buisness owner - still making time to be a good uncle
LaNell is a champion Baby sitter
movie time with dad
I love how clear this picture is….
am i drooling?
why can't big people feet and buns be cute like this?
see! just not cute - but I do love this warm weather - barefoot is the way to go!
and I am finally learning how to put video on here. I wanted to post these last time but I couldn’t figure it out.
I LOVE to mow the lawn. You could say that I am obsessed with it right now. I think about doing it every day. I hope that all 3 of my children will nap at the same time so that I can go and mow. I just love to see the newly mowed lawn and then we actually play on it… I now need to fall in love with weeding but that hasn’t happened yet.
We ran out of milk today so… we busted out the “Powdered Milk”. This was our first time ever doing this so we called it “magic milk” and Packer was fine with that but Benji did not like it. His Father insisted that he drink it all. Halfway through he tells us, “This tastes like white cat fur.” sorry Benji, I kind of agree 🙂
Ben and the boys made dinner tonight. We headed out back for a back yard campout!! Hot dogs over the fire and I loved it.
The Cooks for the Night
I also loved that Benji told me out of the blue, “I love you Mom.” That is fun to hear without any coaxing. He also called me out when I thanked him for the puzzle that he got me and he said, “and you need to say thanks for the flowers and the card.” !! So I did. Ben and I both got to talk to our Mothers this afternoon and let them know how much we love and appreciate them. Other people might post the same thing but we really have the best Moms ever! 🙂  So that was my perfect mothers day – I did my puzzle all afternoon while the rest of the family took naps.
This is Benji's Drawing of our Family
Since we are on a funny things Benji said today kick – he also blessed in his prayer, “thankful that we are still on this Earth.” We’re not too sure where that one came from.
I need to post my not so wonderful cakes since I boasted about my Mickey Mouse cake. Ben requested Mike Tysons Punch Out cake – the occasion called for cupcakes so this was the best that I could do.
We ate cupcakes at the soccer game. I scored 2 goals! One of them Sam Hancock was very unselfish and gave to me because girl points count double in this league, thanks Sam. And the other was because Ben gave me a pep talk on the way over about how long it had been since I had scored in this league so I made one for him,  but they were both low hard corner shots and It feels good to be getting back in shape again.
And for the first time ever Ben and I went to a movie again last night so both Friday and Saturday Nights at the theater – that was fun – Star Trek is also a good movie.
Oh Yeah – Ben took this picture of me because I really wanted Smores but we only had mini mallows so…  You make do with what you have. And they were also yummy.
Today is Ben’s Birthday! He is getting pretty old these days but… He hides it well! When we got married they asked us what quality we liked best about each other – I said that I liked that Ben was always optimistic and Happy. I still love this quality about him. He is always in a good mood. I can tell how much he loves me and our little family by the way he treats us and plays with us and devotes everything he has/does to us. He is such a good husband and father and I don’t know what I would do without him ( so don’t get too old too fast 🙂 )
We celebrated last night : We ate Jimmy Johns in the car :), watched Wolverine and then stopped for icecream with Ben’s brothers and sister and spouces that live here.
