My Next 30 Years

I’m 30! The end of an Era. I’m officially old now. Crazy thing is as most of you can attest – I don’t feel old. I still feel like a 23 year old, home from my mission and ready for real life to start. I guess it has started and it is flying by.

I took advantage of it being my day. I stayed home and did a puzzle all day! Boring? No way! I love puzzles. I started at 8 am when the boys gave it to me and I didn’t finish until 5:00. Of course there were many interruptions because my children are not self sufficient but I did the bare minimum in the mom department and enjoyed my lazy day.

hard at work! erica was nice enough to document the day with this picture.

Then Ben came home and we went out to eat. My craving was for Queso at Chilis so that was dinner – Chilis appetizers and milk shakes, I always crave those.
I was then blindfolded and we headed out for some fun. We ended up at CLASSIC SKATING!! I love to skate and so I was stoked, (it’s hard to find people to skate with you so it’s a treat to go to Classic.) and Ben had rented out the place, and all of my friends and family (local family) were there . We had the place to ourselves and we skated all night and that was definitely the best place to turn 30, because I felt 15 again.

When we got there I saw my cousin skating by and then realized that the few other people there were all “MY” people, Ben rented the whole place! And all of my family(local family that is) and several friends were there to celebrate. IMGP4799And I do need to say that Ben was walking a very fine line. I had threatened him that there should be no party. That I do not want to be embarrassed. That the best birthday would be eating out and chillin with the family. So … he did not listen very well BUT he did not embarrass me and I had a blast so it ended up being the best party ever! Thanks everyone for coming and making it great. Lets do it again next year.

Side note to end with… I love that country song – next 30 years – “will be the best years of my life” – I am feeling that way today but unlike the song I have loved my first 30 years and am proud of eveything that has made me who I am. I have an awesome marriage. Three beautiful children. My testimony is continually growing with my love of my Savior and Heavenly Father. I cherish my childhood. I love and respect my parents and my 11 siblings. They are all amazing and I jump at every chance to be with them. I am grateful for school teachers that inspired me and church leaders that helped me along the path of youth. I acknowledge strong friendships that have kept me on the straight and narrow and made each day fun to live. My in-laws are great. I get to be a stay at home mom… I could go on and on. Point is I loved my first 30 years and I have a feeling that the next 30 are going to be pretty great too, (if not better)!

    1. Oh I am SO happy that you had such a great birthday! Props to Ben for doing such a great job. I love the days when you feel like a kid again…even though we don’t feel “old” I welcome those moments where I feel silly & carefree b/c they don’t happen often. 🙂 Happy 30th-and here’s to 30 more amazing years!

    2. Maybe you should have used a picture where I was not sweaty, Oh wait there probably wasn’t one. SICK!!! The party was awesome and I love living so close to you and your family.

    3. Happy birthday Jana! Wish we could have made it to the skating surprise party! Looks like everyone had a fun time.

    4. I love that you used a country song to describe how you fell about turning 30. Very fitting coming from YOU! Happy birthday.
